Since 1961 His Majesty the King
conserved Dipterocarpus alatus Roxb. and had created a demonstration
forest which collected various plants varieties from every regions of the
country. This resource was for the student studying within Chitralada Palace ground. In 1985 H.M.
the King had ordered to conservation of the jackfruit in the Grand Palace. The
Royal Chitralada Projects began to conservation of unique characteristic
plant in vitro. In 1988, in the Royal Development Study
Center, conservation and propagation of
rattans (Calamus sp.) and experiments on rattans planting was
begun. Her Royal Highness
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn had a Royal initiation to the Lord
Chamberlain to conserve plant genetic in 1992. Plant Germplasm was
established in 1993 at the Royal Chitralada Projects and plant
genetic conservation activities were started.
